MIMS is very happy to premiere the warm, groove-laden sounds of “Kleer” by Mister Ott.
New Zealand saxophonist Matthew Ottignon has been honing his skills and creativity over 20 years of collaborations. Finally it’s time for him to share his own project as leader, via Urban Trout (label of brother Aron), with “In The Flow”, with his Australian outfit Mister Ott. Afrofunk-led boogie is the recipe. The album is a slow-burning journey, designed “to beam groovy, defogging solace”, full of “soul-warming slabs.”
The album begins with our premiere today, “Kleer”, a joyous slice of bass-slapping, brass-laden dub funk that feels like a day too hot to do anything but tap toes and nod heads.
“Kleer” can be found on ‘In The Flow’, released tomorrow on digital and very limited vinyl formats via Bandcamp, and no doubt all the regular streaming platforms.
